Manual channel selection when connecting to WIFI with multiple AP and same SSID

Minipilot 8 months ago in General questions updated 6 months ago 4

I am using a large collection of Maic devices in a company. Several of them see 3-4 APs, with the same SSID.

The problem is, that the signal strengths are -50, -80, -90 at channels 1, 6, 11. And the device insists to connect to the one with the worst signal on channel 11 and then periodically loses signal.

No matter what I do, refreshing, or reselecting another wifi from the list helps. Only temporary thing I found is to block the device with metal, so it loses the worse performing APs and then it can connect to channel 1.

Could we get an option to select a channel manually?

We understand your problem and confirm this WiFi connecting behavior.

Give us few weeks to look into this. We will try to propose a solution.

We have changed wifi connection algorithm.

On device web page you can see list of available networks sorted by signal strength.

When you select preferred AP your device remember AP name (SSID) and AP MAC address (BSSID).

Every time device will try to connect to selected AP. In case if selected AP not present or disappeared, device will connect to AP with same name and ignore stored AP MAC.

Please update firmware to last version and check wifi connections.

Waiting for your feedback.

Much, much better! Thank you!
